What is the principle of inverted flare?
An inverted flare is a type of mechanical connection used in piping and tubing systems, particularly for fluid or gas applications, such as automotive brake lines, hydraulic systems, and refrigeration. It provides a secure and leak-resistant seal without the need for welding or adhesives.

The inverted flare principle is a method used in fluid and hydraulic connections to create a secure, leak-resistant seal. This type of connection is common in automotive brake systems, fuel lines, and hydraulic applications.

The tubing end is flared outward in a cone shape, typically at a 45-degree angle. The corresponding fitting or nut has a matching inverted (concave) conical surface.
When the nut is tightened, the inverted flare cone on the fitting seats tightly against the flared tube's surface. This creates a metal-to-metal seal that is durable and leak-proof.

The tightening action compresses the flared tubing against the fitting's cone. The compression ensures that the connection is mechanically strong and fluid-tight without requiring additional sealants.
