Air brake fittings are essential components of an air brake system in vehicles like trucks, buses, and trains. These fittings connect the air brake components, such as valves, hoses, and air tanks, together to ensure the proper functioning of the system.
Firstly, let's take a look at the different types of air brake fittings. There are several types of air brake fittings available in the market, including compression fittings, push-to-connect fittings, and brass fittings. Compression fittings are the most common type of air brake fittings, used to connect the air brake hoses to the air compressor, air dryer, and other components. Push-to-connect fittings, on the other hand, are used to connect hoses to valves and other fittings with a simple push and pull mechanism. Brass fittings are used in places where vibration and stress are high and require greater durability and strength.
The importance of air brake fittings cannot be overstated. A properly functioning air brake system is essential for the safety of the driver, passengers, and others on the road. Air brake fittings ensure that the air pressure in the system is consistent, and the brakes can be applied and released effectively. Without the proper air brake fittings, air leaks could occur, leading to brake failure and potential accidents.
So how do air brake fittings work? Air brake fittings work by connecting different components of the air brake system together to allow for the proper flow of air. The fittings are designed to ensure that there are no air leaks, and the air pressure is consistent throughout the system. The fittings are connected by either compression or push-to-connect mechanisms, which create a tight seal and prevent air from escaping.
In conclusion, air brake fittings are crucial components of an air brake system in vehicles like trucks, buses, and trains. They connect the various components of the air brake system, ensuring that the air pressure is consistent and the brakes can be applied and released effectively. With the right air brake fittings, the safety of the driver, passengers, and others on the road can be ensured.

Our new adapters are a perfect accessory for your air line. The adapters are made of brass and nickel plated, ensuring durability, reliability and style. When paired with SAE J1402 air brake hose they meet FMVSS571.106 regulations.
The Aluminum Hose Adapter for the 76RB. This adapter is made of corrosion resistant aluminum. It fits into a 1¼” hole, but inserts into a welded-on ¾” nipple. The adapter then allows you to run a 76RB brake hose using J1402 air brake hose. Can be used on trailers, heavy duty trucks and buses up to 7,000 lbs GVWR.
The 76RB is a standard cab air brake stub with a 90 degree elbow and a male threaded connection on the end to attach to your trailer. This adapter replaces the straight angle pipe in tractor-trailer air brake systems.
